I like that Lucas is getting fired for being a shitty employee. It’s a wonder Ethan never does except, well, Ethan is Tim. The one thing that did cheese me off about the original it that Lucas isn’t fired for being a shitty employee, he’s fired for insulting his boss.

This. Remember what I said before about the mystery box, and how it’s fun/enticing to build suspense? Well suspense is a key part of story telling. If you just give away the plot in the beginning, no one has any reason to stick around (at least for the story). So now people are asking “What’s got Tim Ethan up in a tizzy?” Well do you want to know? DO YOU?
